Upkeep is what your Tool Cupboard burns per day. It's ~10% of build cost on a small base and climbs toward ~33% as you add more blocks — the range above covers both ends.
Raid cost is the rockets to destroy every piece (a high-end upper bound — a real raid only breaches a path). For the cheapest method per wall, see the raid cost calculator. Building and raiding get rebalanced most wipes; numbers are a close guide (RustLabs, 2026), not gospel.
